The Catherine Palace at Pushkin near St Petersburg, Russia



The magnificent Rococo summer residence of the Tsars, named after Peter the Great's second wife Catherine I, although it is more usually associated with Catherine II (Catherine the Great) . The palace includes the stunning Amber Room, restored over from 1979-2003 by Russian craftsmen. (3 June 2010)
