Russia marks 70th anniversary of Heroic Symphony

Thursday marks 70 years since an orchestra of 79 musicians conducted by Karl Eliasberg premiered Dmitry Shostakovich’s famous Seventh Symphony in the besieged Leningrad.
Those were the first chords of victory which instilled hope in the hearts of hundreds of millions.
Yuri Kolosov, head of the association of historians and experts on the blockade, believes that the evergreen Seventh or Heroic Symphony will be forever admired by listeners all over the world because it eulogizes the strength of human spirit.
